About Department

Welcome to the Electrical Engineering Department website. I encourage you to browse these pages, where you will find detailed information about our graduate educational programs, our faculty members, their research programs, and the broad range of activities underway in the Department.

Electrical Engineering is a vibrant department that has changed the world in which we live and work. At the beginning of this new century, the discipline is poised to continue making important contributions to key issues facing society in areas such as energy, health, computing, networked communications, environmental monitoring, and information security. This gives an indication of the currency and relevance of our research and educational programs. In addition, through a variety of federally supported interdisciplinary centers, our faculty members are engaged in collaborative efforts with industry and other universities to address research issues of national importance.

By KCT standards our department is quite large. However, our size still allows close interaction between faculty and students at all levels. We strive to be at the forefront of research, to educate our students in core fundamentals, and to engage students with emerging technologies and their applications. Our education and research missions are enhanced by collaborations with the other departments in the School of Engineering and Applied Science, with the math and science departments, and with various interdisciplinary centers and institutes. The Department also has excellent relationships with neighboring companies and industrial laboratories, where students can be engaged on joint projects.

I hope that you will explore our programs and the research interests of the faculty. We are always interested in new opportunities for collaboration. If you have questions or would like to explore a specific interest, please feel free to contact us.
